Weekly, or even daily password changes are required.
Sessions can reference an entry in the local Credentials Manager, making itĮasier to update stored passwords. Rather than specifying credentials for each saved session, The Credentials Manager simplifies local password management within SecureCRTĪnd SecureFX. Save steps with the close integration of SecureCRT and the SecureFX ® file transfer client, which share sessions and settings that let you run SFTP, FTPS (FTP/TLS), HTTPS (WebDAV and Amazon S3), SCP, FTP, and HTTP file transfer sessions without reentering passwords. A built-in TFTP server provides additional file transfer flexibility. Transfer files between network devices with SFTP, Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, or Kermit.
SecureCRT supports X.509 smart cards (PIV/CAC) with the ability to select a specific certificate to be used for public-key authentication. Implement smart cards for highly secure, two-factor authentication. The script recorder builds your keystrokes into a VBScript or Python script. Leverage the high-productivity GUI with time-saving capabilities including multi-session launch, tabbed sessions, tab groups, tiled sessions, cloned sessions, a buttonīar and Command Manager for repeated commands, and mapped keys.ĭepend on the open standard Secure Shell (SSH) protocol for encrypted logon and session data, flexible authentication options, and optional FIPS 140-2 -approved ciphers.Īutomate repetitive tasks in SecureCRT by running scripts using VBScript, JScript, PerlScript, or Python.

If security is a major concern for you then you need to take a serious look at either the Dameware SSH Client or the Bitvise SSH Client but these options are expensive and for professionals only.Securely access business applications on UNIX, Linux, or VMS from machines running Windows, Linux, and Mac - employ the rich emulation support for VT100/ 102/ 220, It has so many features for a free application and it works incredibly well. Of the free options, I really liked SmarTTY the best. None of these applications disappointed me, in fact, they all did a good job in establishing and managing remote connections. In my Putty alternative list above there are simple SSH client solutions and more sophisticated ones.
The Bitvise SSH Client appeals to professional users who require remote access to their work systems on a secure basis. You can transfer files with a high level of security using SCP and SFTP. If you need to administer Windows servers remotely then Bitvise is a good option. Hackers will not be able to view any files that transfer when you use Bitvise SSH Client in SSH mode. I liked this additional security as it provides additional protection for your passwords and other credentials. The security levels are higher than that with FTP and Telnet and the Bitvise SSH Client encrypts data during transmission. You can use Bitvise SSH Client on Windows computers and workstations and it offers highly protected and secure remote access. My final Putty alternative is the Bitvise SSH Client.
Bitvise SSH Client – Free trial for 30 days and upgrades at $99.95 each per year Is it worth $295+ per user? Well, that’s hard to say and I would have to think very carefully before I committed to this SSH client. It supports different protocols such as SSH1 and SSH2 and Telnet and there are many other features too. I liked the tab facility and you can save your most frequent sessions in Windows file format. There is also a built-in help desk and it supports active directory management. You can use multi-factor authentication for your remote sessions. I wasn’t able to verify the high level of security with connections but I’ve no doubt that this exists. Dameware SSH Client is a high-security SSH client and is fairly popular among network professionals.
It is a terminal emulator where you can run numerous SSH and Telnet sessions from one user-friendly interface. I would classify the Dameware SSH Client as “high end” and it is an expensive Putty alternative.
